Site Surveys & Tech Scouting

Here is how this works in practice. We carry out detailed site surveys so a production knows exactly what each location involves before committing crew and gear. Our team documents car and crew access, parking and unit-base options, ready power and water, mobile coverage, sun orientation and shade through the day, and the physical condition and dimensions of the space. For desert sites we check heat exposure, sandstorm risk and the distance to medical facilities. For medina interiors and heritage sites we record load limits, narrow access and conservation conditions. Surveys also note the permit picture, what the Centre Cinématographique Marocain and provincial wilaya authorities will need, so the findings feed straight into scheduling, logistics and location agreements. We set up surveys with the CCM-licensed production-services firm managing the shoot.

The country puts the Sahara dunes, the Atlas Mountains, the Atlantic coast and the ancient medinas within a compact area. But each terrain has its own tech demands. Productions from 'Gladiator' and 'Kingdom of Heaven' to HBO's 'Game of Thrones' have shown that careful survey work is what allows large units to film in such settings safely and efficiently. We bring that survey discipline to each project. It draws on knowledge of the most-used Moroccan locations and on relationships with regional bodies such as the Ouarzazate Film Commission, so a production walks into each location fully informed.
