5.1 Surround Mixing

Here is how this works in practice. We deliver surround mixing in calibrated, acoustically treated rooms, taking projects from dialogue pre-mix through final theatrical print master. Our team handles dialogue, music and effects stems independently, places elements across the front and surround field for a coherent and natural image, and manages loudness and dynamic range so the mix translates from cinema to living room. Morocco's post sector has grown alongside the country's long history of hosting global shoots. Surround work — together with edit, dialogue and colour — is increasingly completed in-country rather than only abroad.

Here is what we have to work with. On the ground, we give stems, near-field fold-downs and the printmaster deliverables a distributor or festival needs, and we set up with picture edit so the surround mix tracks late cut changes. For shoots that captured location ambience at Ouarzazate, in the Sahara or along the Atlantic coast, we use that material to give the surround field a genuine sense of place.

Here is the short of it. Surround deliverables in Morocco serve a range of release paths. Theatrical exhibition runs to DCI-compliant Digital Cinema Packages for festivals such as the Marrakech Global Film Festival. The National Film Festival in Tangier, while broadcast versions go to 2M and SNRT specs and global titles deliver to streaming-sites loudness and channel-layout standards. Multilingual workflows are routine here — Arabic, French and English versioning. With dubbing and subtitling for the regional market — and a surround mix often needs M&E (music and effects) stems prepared so foreign-language dubs can be conformed cleanly.

Here is the layout. On the ground, we also prepare Dolby Atmos masters where a project's distribution calls for object-based, height-channel audio. Moroccan cinema.
